Sitting Fox

Red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) are one of the most common predators found in Yellowstone National Park. They are small to medium-sized canids with a distinctive rusty-red coat, black legs, and white-tipped bushy tail. Red foxes in Yellowstone National Park are primarily found in the northern range and Lamar Valley areas of the park. They prefer to inhabit open meadows, grasslands, and riparian zones where they can hunt for rodents, rabbits, and other small prey. In the winter, red foxes will also scavenge for carrion, including the remains of bison and elk left behind by wolves or other predators. They can survive in harsh winter conditions due to their thick fur and ability to adapt their hunting strategies to the changing environment. The population of red foxes in Yellowstone National Park is currently stable, although they face some threats such as habitat loss, disease, and predation by other larger carnivores. Despite these challenges, they remain an important and iconic species in the park's ecosystem. In 2017, a curious red fox gained internet fame after sneaking into the 72nd-floor observation deck of the Tower 42 skyscraper in London, England. The fox had apparently climbed 42 floors up the exterior of the building before squeezing through a gap in a window and entering the enclosed observation deck. Once inside, the fox was caught on camera exploring the space, sniffing around, and looking out at the panoramic views of the city. The incident caused a bit of a stir on social media, with many people commenting on the fox's daring feat and sense of adventure. Fortunately, the fox was eventually safely captured and released back into the wild. The story captured the hearts of many animal lovers, who were charmed by the fox's unexpected urban escapade.
