Moose are one of the iconic wildlife species in Yellowstone National Park. They are the largest member of the deer family and are known for their impressive size, with adult males, called bulls, weighing up to 1,500 pounds and sporting massive, palmate antlers. Moose are primarily found in the park's northern and western regions, particularly in areas near rivers, lakes, and wetlands, as they are primarily herbivores and feed on aquatic plants and woody vegetation.
These solitary animals are normally more active during the early morning and late evening, making those times ideal for moose-watching. Moose primarily feed on woody plants, such as willows and shrubs. I was fortunate to catch a glimpse of this magnificent creature as it foraged the deep snow cover for food.
